Tiptastic! - Accurate Lip Colour

Lipstick

Hello Fellow MakeUp Lovers!  It is a brand new year and this is a brand new post! ;)

Today I'm going to talk about how you can ensure your lipstick colour stays true!

Have you ever tried painting a wall without primer?  You would have noticed that the colour you are painting is not the same colour you picked out at the store.  What happens is that the colour you are putting on is simply an overlay of what is already there.

Applying lipstick to your bare lips is very much thing.  The lipstick becomes an overlay of the shade your natural lip colour.

So how do you keep your lipstick colour true??? You use liquid foundation.  While you are putting the foundation on your face, also gently rub it onto your lips.  Providing a light layer of foundation gives the lipstick a neutral base.  While the foundation isn't white, it will remove the pigment in your lips to bring out the lipstick's proper shade

Organization

There is always the need to organise in my life.  Why should this blog be any different?

I've decided to organise my posts by the days of the week!

On Mondays I will blog about the absolute MUST HAVES in the cosmetics world.  Items that I have found to consistent, tried and true.

On Tuesdays I will blog tips and tricks of the trade.  Things I have added to my repertoire along the way to help out all the curious new cosmetologists out there!

Wednesdays I have reserved for the questions I get in regards to make up and beauty regimens.  So if you are wondering about anything related to make up or beauty products or application, e-mail me!

On Thursdays I will be blogging tutorials on how to apply certain makeup or how to complete certain looks. And let's face it, that's darn right thrilling!

Fridays I will be rating and reviewing products!

Stay tuned!

Anastasia : Brow Pen

Ok ladies, we've all seen it.  The fake eyebrow look.

I can appreciate that as we age our eyebrows aren't as visible due to our hair thinning or the excess use of make up we slather on to hide our newly formed facial flaws, but truly, there is nothing natural or sexy about an eyebrow that is drawn in.

I can also appreciate that sometimes we just don't like the god given shape our eyebrows grow in and we do what we can to change them to suit what ever style is currently in.

So what can we do?  Is there really anything out there that can give us beautiful eyebrows without the 'fake, drawn in' look?

The short answer is, YES!  Anastasia Beverly Hills started out in the makeup industry specialising in eyebrows and only eyebrows.  To say they are the experts and perhaps they have done their homework would be an understatement!

The brow pen can be used lightly to fill in the areas of your eyebrow that seem to disappear like the days on a calendar.  What is nice about the pen is that it goes on evenly and lightly, which helps avoid the drawn on look!

Tarte multiplEYE™ : lash enhancing primer

We have primers for just about everything make up related these days, face primer, nail polish clear base coat, so why not for our eye lashes too???

I found the product easy to apply.  It is best to wait for it to dry completely before applying mascara.  If you don't wait for the primer to dry fully and you apply mascara, your poor little eyelashes will be weighed down.

As you can see from the picture below the primer does coat your eyelashes to give you fuller looking lashes and it adds length at the very end.  It does not clump or add too much volume so your lashes still look natural and beautiful!

Benefit: They're Real! Mascara

As someone who wasn't born with long beautiful eye lashes I am always on the look out for that miracles product that will create that which I was not born with, with out the use of glue or complex application.

I came across this product while shopping in Sephora.  I could probably wander in that store for hours, much to my companions chagrin.  Isles and isles of colour and quality, but I digress.  I picked it up while waiting in line, where they have mini sized products for about $17.00. ( I know, seriously double the price than a regular sized mascara of a consumer brand)... But it's worth it!

It comes with a thick wand with short bristles.  For those of us who get puffy eyelids in the morning, the short bristles save us from getting mascara transfer on our skin behind the lashes.

Now I'm not going to break down the chemical compounds that make this magical.  I'm going to tell you whether or not it effectively, through simple application, gives you long, natural, beautiful eye lashes.  And it does!  Make sure when you apply mascara you are applying slowly, with light pressure from the lash line to the lash tips.

It thickly coats your eye lashes without giving you spider legs.  You know the ones I'm talking about!  The kind you might have auditioned for Arachnophobia or a scene girl video!!  We definitely don't need any of those!

The only draw back I found is the removal.  It doesn't state anywhere on the box that the product is waterproof, however it does not come off with warm water.  It does, however, come off with eye makeup remover.  If you are accustom to this already you will have no difficulty.  If you aren't, it's a good habit to get into to protect the skin around your eyes.

Here is the result.  I have not put on anything except foundation and powder prior to applying the mascara.  As you can see it doesn't make my eyelashes longer but it makes them look darker and more lush!
